Simple, Low-Cost Changes Can Give Your Home a Whole New Look

If you want to make some upgrades to your home but don't want to break the bank, here are some easy and economical ideas to help get the look you want. All it takes is a little focus and some smart changes, and you can make a big difference in your home's appearance, inside and out.

When you think of your house, you probably picture the front exterior. It's the first thing anyone sees, so begin your improvements here. Repaint the siding, the trim and the door. A $25 can of paint is an easy and economical way to give the front door a whole new look.

Dressing up your front porch is another way to make a major impact on your home's curb appeal. Two large potted plants on either side of the front door with complimentary colors and blooms will do wonders. And of course, don't forget to keep your lawn cut and trees and bushes trimmed.

For the inside of your home, you can make a big impact with a simple coat of paint. Brighten things up with a lighter color, paint a wall three different shades of the same color, or add depth by painting the trim a contrasting color. Put up crown molding or repaint the existing molding for an instant touch of class.

Another simple fix to your home's interior is to add light. Replace those two lamps on either side of the couch with track lighting and position a few spotlights for extra emphasis.

As you can see, you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a big return. A coat of paint here, a plant there, some added light, and you have a house that looks brand new, and a wallet that looks the same as it did before the improvements!
