Phishing email claims your credit card has been violated

A phishing scam with the subject line, “Your credit card was used in Eastern Europe” is currently circulating.

How the scam works
The email is addressed “Dear Visa Member” and claims that someone from Bulgaria tried to access your account from two different ATM's but used the incorrect PIN number. It also says that Visa was forced to freeze the credit card until your identity can be confirmed online and provides a fraudulent Verified by Visa“confirm identity” link to enter the requested information. Card holders are told that if they don't confirm within 3 days their account will be locked.

This email is a scam.  Visa does not request personal information via email. Do not click on the provided link and delete the email.

What can you do to protect yourself against phishing scams?
