Phishing email claims credit union members will receive $50 for completing online survey

An email claiming to be from either Card Services for Credit Unions (CSCU), Credit Union National Association (CUNA), or National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is offering $50 if you fill out a survey is another fraudulent attempt to obtain your personal information.

How the scam works
Recipients are told that for taking part in a quick, five-question “Credit Union Online® $50 Reward Survey”, $50 will be deposited in their credit union account. The email claims the survey is designed to help give them a better understanding of customers' needs. It also states that the information will be stored in a secure database for a maximum of 3 days while the results of the nationwide survey are tabulated.

This email is a scam.  Neither CUNA nor NCUA are financial institutions; they don't have consumer accounts.  If you receive an email like this, do not click on the links provided and delete the email.

What can you do to protect yourself against phishing scams?
Be protective of all your personal and financial information.  Never provide information to unknown solicitors or websites unless you are extremely confident of the source requesting the information.
