Now that you've been preapproved for your NWFCU loan, it's time to begin your home search. While your real estate agent can keep you updated on new homes coming on the market, ultimately, you need to manage your home search.
Clearly communicate your needs (required items such as number of bedrooms and baths, neighborhood characteristics, etc.) and wants (options like a pool, multi-car garage, cul-de-sac location) with your agent so he or she doesn't waste their time or yours with properties outside of your price range or specifications.
Check online and newspaper real estate listings on your own, too, to keep abreast of what's available for sale. Just remember to include your agent in all property inquiries and tours so your best interests are protected.
And remember that one of your members-only benefits includes NWFCU's partnership with CU Realty, providing free, unrestricted access to the same database of listings* Realtors use. In the end, your understanding of places, properties and prices meeting your needs will help you and your agent get you into your new home faster.
*You must register with CU Realty to access the listing database.
