Making an Offer
After a lot of searching, you've finally found the perfect condo, townhouse or single family home. It's time to make an offer and submit it to the seller. Your real estate agent will guide you through this process and help you fill out all the necessary paperwork involved. Some things to keep in mind include:
- The price you're willing to pay
- Your desired closing and move-in date
- If you want to ask the seller to help with closing costs and include certain appliances that may already be in the home
- The kinds of inspections you want completed. Often, buyers make the purchase contingent upon successful completion of a home inspection.
Once your offer is on paper, your agent will send it to the seller's agent. The seller will usually respond within 48 hours to tell you whether they've accepted, rejected or made a counter offer. You may go back and forth several times before you come up with an offer that both you and the seller agree upon.
