What is a Credit Report?

A credit report is a record of how you've paid your debts, including credit cards and loans. This information helps lenders see how you've handled your debts in the past – an indication of how you'll likely handle your debts in the future.

We recommend that you order a copy of your credit report once a year to verify that the information it contains is correct. If you find an error, you should notify the credit bureau that issued it, and request that the information be corrected. Remember, it is your right to have the mistakes corrected at no charge to you.
