NWFCU Foundation and Northwest employees load trunks full of school supplies for delivery

Herndon, Va. (September 21, 2021) NWFCU Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Northwest Federal Credit Union, recently concluded its Back to School Supply Drive benefitting the Fairfax County IGNITE program as well as local schools and organizations in Loudoun County. Supplies collected came from Northwest members, employees, the community, and Foundation partners. This year’s donations far exceeded previous years’ collections.

“So many people are in need these days as we continue to navigate the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” said Executive Director of the NWFCU Foundation, Kaycee Childress. “The beauty in these difficult times is that our members, our colleagues, and our partners, like Serco, never fail to show up. The continued generosity of so many leaves us without words to convey our appreciation and gratitude. What they are doing with us cannot be quantified. Together we are all changing the lives and futures of our communities’ children for the better.”

The Foundation believes starting a school year without the proper tools can be daunting. Substantial donations made it possible to prevent that from happening for students at Dogwood Elementary, Sterling Middle School, Guilford Elementary School, INMED and the Herndon Neighborhood Resource Center, as well as a handful of students at Briar Woods High School. The Foundation obtained a list of needed supplies from each of the above and met almost every single need because of the support and generosity of members, partners and colleagues.

“We are so grateful to all those who donated to the Foundation’s school supply drive,” said President and CEO of Northwest Federal Credit Union and Chairman of NWFCU Foundation, Jeff Bentley. “60,000 supplies will make a monumental difference to local at-promise children, and we could not have done this without the support of our members, employees, and donors.”
