Northwest Federal Donates to Local Food Pantry Partners

Last month, Northwest Federal Credit Union donated to eight of its local non-profit food pantry partners. The organizations, which provide food assistance, financial grants, gift cards, personal supplies and more, have been struggling in the wake of COVID-19 due to decreases in food donations from grocery stores, monetary donations and volunteer availability.

NWFCU Foundation Collects Thousands of Food Items for Local Children

NWFCU Foundation recently ran a weekend meal program drive, collecting non-perishable food items to provide nourishing meals for at-promise children on weekends. The Foundation received almost 4,200 food items and several hundred dollars in donations from generous credit union members, employees and corporate partners, including Whitney, Bradley & Brown, Inc.

Northwest Federal Opens First Branch in Arlington County

Northwest Federal Credit Union recently celebrated the grand opening of a new branch in Ballston, Virginia, its ninth public branch and first in Arlington County. The grand opening celebration was attended by representatives of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, community partners and local businesses. Jeff Bentley, President and CEO of Northwest Federal, expressed excitement about the new location and the opportunity to work closely with and be more accessible to members, businesses and charitable organizations in the community.

Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation Welcomes Holiday Season with Week of Giving

Week of Giving

Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation started the holiday season off with their annual “Week of Giving,” thanking a number of organizations in their community and raising funds to support their on-going outreach programs. Those who benefitted this year included local area first responders from five different stations who received coupons and koozies from the Foundation in conjunction with Mission BBQ, and Irene’s Prom Closet, who received two full racks of prom dresses in support of their work to provide formal wear to local teens free of charge for special occasions.

Northwest Federal Hires Jean Cain as Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Northwest Federal Credit Union has hired Jean Cain as its new Senior Vice President of Human Resources. Cain most recently served as Vice President and Chief HR Officer at Noblis, in Reston, VA. Prior to that, Cain’s 30+ years in human resources included management positions at The MITRE Corporation in McLean, VA and Montgomery County Teachers Federal Credit Union in Rockville, MD.
