Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation recently held its second annual Kids in Crisis drive, collecting over 400 plush toys, blankets, and other comfort items for local first responders to provide to children in crisis situations.

Northwest Federal Credit Union recently celebrated the grand opening of a new branch in Ballston, Virginia, its ninth public branch and first in Arlington County. The grand opening celebration was attended by representatives of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, community partners and local businesses. Jeff Bentley, President and CEO of Northwest Federal, expressed excitement about the new location and the opportunity to work closely with and be more accessible to members, businesses and charitable organizations in the community.
Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation started the holiday season off with their annual “Week of Giving,” thanking a number of organizations in their community and raising funds to support their on-going outreach programs. Those who benefitted this year included local area first responders from five different stations who received coupons and koozies from the Foundation in conjunction with Mission BBQ, and Irene’s Prom Closet, who received two full racks of prom dresses in support of their work to provide formal wear to local teens free of charge for special occasions.
Northwest Federal Credit Union has hired Jean Cain as its new Senior Vice President of Human Resources. Cain most recently served as Vice President and Chief HR Officer at Noblis, in Reston, VA. Prior to that, Cain’s 30+ years in human resources included management positions at The MITRE Corporation in McLean, VA and Montgomery County Teachers Federal Credit Union in Rockville, MD.
The NWFCU Foundation recently donated $5,000 each to two organizations that fund after school programs for local at-promise children. The Herndon Neighborhood Resource Center (HNRC) and the INMED Opportunity Center in Sterling both received donations from the Foundation that will support their students’ language skills and education.
