Overview

Northwest Federal Credit Union is seeking qualified interns for our paid Summer Internship Program at our Corporate Office in Herndon, VA. Our Summer Internship Program is designed to provide college students the opportunity to learn about Northwest Federal and gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional environment that aligns with their career goals. This is an 8-week internship program starting on June 1, 2026.

 

The IT Service Desk team provides tier 1 user support by responding to phone, email, or chat requests to resolve basic IT, or IT performance issues, and escalates problems to tier 2 support or others to achieve issue resolution. They also perform use access and administration for multiple enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer systems, hardware, and software
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot any issues
  • Follow established procedures and processes for computer maintenance
  • Administering and maintaining information technology to support appropriate tracking and monitoring of systems that ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and availability
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a credited university at the junior or senior level in pursuit of a degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • Average 3.0 GPA (transcripts required)
  • Ability to work on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters for the duration of June 1st - August 7th
  • Ability to work the hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday
  • Ability to use standard office equipment and systems; expertise with Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of network and system security
  • Familiarity with hardware and software installation
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing technology
