Software Quality Assurance Specialist
Overview
The Software Quality Assurance Specialist supports the development and implementation of custom and third party applications through structured release management, manual and automated testing, and collaboration with business units to ensure high quality solutions for Credit Union members.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans, scripts, and scenarios for functional, regression, and smoke testing
- Translate business and technical requirements, process documentation, and workflow analysis into detailed test plans and scripts that provide effective test coverage
- Works within an agile framework
- Ensure products meet quality standards through manual testing and oversight of automated testing
- Identify, document, and track defects; collaborate with developers and vendors to resolve issues
- Participate in design reviews and contribute feedback to improve product quality
- Provide feedback to developers on usability and system functionality
- Work with internal customers to define expected outcomes and acceptance criteria
- Manage multiple initiatives concurrently in time-sensitive environments
- Organize and prioritize assignments showing flexibility as priorities change
- Maintain and utilize software testing tools and programs
- Facilitate and conduct post deployment smoke testing to validate release success
- Facilitate user acceptance and integration testing for new third party products
- Provide technical oversight during installation and configuration activities
- Demonstrate ongoing curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies and processes
- Maintain all test documentation for audit purposes
- Supports audit requests by providing documentation, system information, and operational support as needed
- Adheres to IT Systems Change Control procedures
- Works independently on assigned tasks and support activities within defined scope and standards
- Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma
- Minimum 2 years of experience testing business critical software applications and systems or related experience in software implementation
- Ability to work effectively with and participate in cross functional and matrixed teams
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to review, analyze, and interpret data and documentation to translate into effective test cases/scenarios
- Clear, logical oral and written communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization and management
- Proficiency with MS Office, including Project/Planner, Teams, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Ability to learn and apply new skills and technologies following training
- Ability to work effectively both on site in Herndon, VA and remotely
- Availability to work standard business hours, along with occasional off-hours, and implementation support windows
Preferred
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in information management, computer science, business administration, or related field
- Experience within an Operational area within a Financial Institution
- Familiarity with financial systems such as core banking (DNA), digital/mobile banking, lending, or payments platforms
- Certifications in Business Analysis, Quality Assurance or Testing
