Talent Development Intern
Overview
Northwest Federal Credit Union is seeking qualified interns for our paid Summer Internship Program at our Corporate Office in Herndon, VA. Our summer internship program is designed to provide college students the opportunity to learn about Northwest Federal and gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional environment that aligns with their career goals. This is an 8-week internship program starting on June 1, 2026.
The Talent Development team is responsible for designing, delivering, and supporting collaborative and engaging participant-centered learning solutions to improve employee performance and impact change efforts. The Talent Development Intern will collaborate with the Talent Development and Instructional Design teams to analyze knowledge and skill gaps through training and education (structured courses and programs); coaching and networking (learning and developing through others); and on-the-job experience (learning and developing in action).
Responsibilities
- Contribute creative ideas to enhance engagement and effectiveness of learning materials
- Assist in development of instructional materials including but not limited to eLearning modules, videos, assessments, and activities
- Participate in the review and evaluation of an existing program and demonstrate analytic, diagnostic, and qualitative skills needed to identify, evaluate, and recommend solutions
- Collaborate with Instructional Design team to analyze learning needs and design effective training solutions
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in instructional design
- Assist with administrative duties such as answering phones, filing, data entry, developing reports, project coordination, processing documents, spreadsheet tracking, etc.
- Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
Qualifications
Required
- Must be enrolled in accredited university at the junior/senior level pursing a degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Human Resources or a related field
- Average 3.0 GPA or above (transcripts required)
- Ability to work on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters for the duration of June 1st – August 7th
- Ability to work the hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective project management and problem-solving skills
- Accuracy and detail orientation
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude and work well with others
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy and to exercise sound judgment, logic and initiative while maintaining employee confidentiality
- Ability to coordinate projects from inception to completion while meeting assigned deadlines
Preferred
- Knowledge in instructional design principles and learning theories
