Sales and Service Intern
Overview
Northwest Federal Credit Union is seeking qualified interns for our paid Summer Internship Program at our Corporate Office in Herndon, VA. Our summer internship program is designed to provide college students the opportunity to learn about Northwest Federal and gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional environment that aligns with their career goals. This is an 8-week internship program starting on June 1, 2026.
The Sales & Service Intern supports Northwest Federal Credit Union’s member‑focused service teams by assisting with daily branch operations, member inquiries, and account services. This role helps interns develop hands‑on experience in financial services by learning how to greet and engage members, process basic transactions, research account questions, and promote NWFCU products that support members’ financial goals. Interns will build strong customer service, communication, and problem‑solving skills while gaining exposure to credit union operations in a collaborative, service‑driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the creation, updating, and standardization of internal processes and templates
- Run weekly reports related to pipelines, outreach activities, referral sources, and membership growth
- Help ensure data integrity within internal systems, including updating contact information and cleaning outdated or inaccurate records
- Support efficiency efforts by identifying gaps or inconsistencies in workflows and offering recommendations
- Learn how the Relationship Managers collaborate with marketing and other internal departments.
- Participate in cross-functional planning meetings or debriefs where appropriate.
- Support projects that align business development efforts with organizational initiatives (e.g., campaigns, product rollouts, membership drives)
- Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in accredited university at the junior/senior level pursing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or a related field
- Average 3.0 GPA or above (transcripts required)
- Ability to work on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters for the duration of June 1st – August 7th
- Ability to work the hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Attention to detail and strong follow through
- Interest in business development, sales, financial services, or relationship management
