Facilities Manager

Overview

The Facilities Manager is responsible for leading, motivating, and developing the Facilities Team to achieve the department's goals. In addition, the Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring that the organization's physical environment is well-maintained, safe, and conducive to effective operations. This includes overseeing the maintenance of buildings, managing vendor contracts, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and planning for future facility needs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the facility to ensure that all mechanical and electrical operations and maintenance services are effective, including delegating or completing maintenance orders
  • Supervise maintenance, repairs, and alterations of buildings, grounds, and equipment
  • Maintains proper heat, cooling, water, power, plumbing, elevator services, etc. always
  • Ensures that related mechanical equipment operates properly
  • Ensure buildings and structures meet legal requirements and health and safety standards
  • Obtains bids, generates purchase orders, and arranges for repair and supply contracts within approved limits
  • Research vendors to ensure that supplies, equipment, and services are acceptable, competitively priced, and delivered. Establish and maintain updated lists of alternate vendors and continually evaluate vendors/suppliers
  • Maintain a working knowledge of materials, systems and code requirements related to maintenance of building facilities
  • Ensures that all maintenance agreements are current
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures and modifies as needed
  • Ensure that facilities and purchasing functions are completed in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Ensures facilities' operations comply with legal regulations, including Fairfax County Fire Marshal, Town of Herndon, ADA, and OSHA specifications, and understands all safety procedures and policies established by the Credit Union
  • Assist the AVP Facilities, Real Estate & Operations Facilities in developing short and long-term goals and plans and in the completion of budget approved projects for all Credit Union departments and branches
  • Assist the Security Department in responding (24/7) to building alarms for all locations and implement recommended actions
  • Ensure emergency supplies are stocked and ready for distribution to all locations in the event of an emergency Maintain appropriate
    records and reports
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Facilities Management
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret government security clearance
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Basic computer use to maintain logs, inventories; respond to service requests and emails; access the computerized maintenance management system; access automated control system
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thorough understanding of purchasing policies & procedures; familiar with vendor and supplier sources
  • Understanding of building maintenance and repairs
  • Ability to work on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters
  • Ability to manage resources and budgets
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and to deliver items throughout the buildings
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization

Preferred

  • May include some or all the following – appropriate plumbing, HVAC, electrical and mechanical Licenses and/or equivalent work experience to ensure working knowledge

Base compensation for this role ranges from $92,764 – $157,696 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
